Road closures announced in preparation for May 25 Memorial Day Parade in downtown Sarasota

Vehicles not removed by 8:45 a.m. that day to be towed, Police Department stresses

In conjunction with the plans of the City of Sarasota and the Sarasota Patriotic Observance Committee to host the annual Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 25, “several tow-away zones and street closure notices” will be in place in downtown Sarasota, the Sarasota Police Department has announced.

The following are the closure details:

Closed from 4 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

  • Main Street from Links Avenue to Gulfstream Avenue.
  • Osprey Avenue from Fruitville Road to Ringling Boulevard.
  • Gulfstream Avenue from Cocoanut Avenue to McAnsh Square.
  • Central Avenue from Main Street to First Street.
  • Intersection of Pineapple Avenue, Central Avenue and Main Street. 

Closed from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.:

  • Links Avenue from Second Street to Ringling Boulevard.
  • Goodrich Avenue from Main Street to Second Street.
  • Adelia Avenue from Main Street to Second Street.
  • Orange Avenue from State Street to Second Street.
  • Lemon Avenue from Main Street to Second Street or First Street.
  • Mira Mar Court from Main Street to McAnsh Square.
  • South Palm Avenue at the intersection with Main Street.

Parked vehicles not removed by 8:45 a.m. on May 25 will be towed at the owner’s expense, the Police Department stresses in the release.
