The Robert L. Taylor Community Complex (RLTCC) in the city of Sarasota is partnering with the Sarasota Police Department to offer a special K.O.P.S. (Kids and Officers Promoting Solidarity) Spring Break Event on Wednesday, March 16, from 8 p.m. to midnight, the staff of the complex has announced.

Registration, which is required, is available online at https://kops-spring-break.eventbrite.com. Registration also may be completed in person by visiting the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, which stands at 1845 34th St., a news release points out.

The after-hours youth program is open to 50 participants ages 12 to 16, the release adds. Parents can enjoy a night out while children can take part in activities such as basketball, volleyball, wiffleball, video games, and pool, the release says. “Food and refreshments will be provided along with a fun, safe environment,” the release adds.

“The goal of this program is to build positive relationships between kids and officers in our area,” said Arthur Larkins, manager of the RLTCC, in the release. “Creating these relationships goes a long way toward building community.”

The first 50 participants who register and attend the event will receive a T-shirt along with the opportunity to utilize the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex facilities for the remainder of spring break, the release notes.
