Garbage, recycling and yard waste collections to remain on normal schedule
Most Sarasota County Government offices will be closed Friday, July 3, and/or Saturday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day, county staff has announced.
“Curbside solid waste collection services for trash, recycling, and yard waste will not be affected,” a news release points out; they will remain on their regular schedule.
Services not listed below will operate on their normal schedule, as well, the release notes:
Closed Friday, July 3
- All library branches and offices.
- Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department recreation centers.
- Englewood Sports Complex.
- Breeze Transit ticket outlets and administrative office.
- Bee Ridge Chemical Collection Center, administrative office and The Re-Uz-It Shop.
- Venice Chemical Collection Center and administrative office.
- The administrative office at the Central County Landfill.
- Public Utilities Department cashier windows and customer service offices.
- University of Florida/Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension Office in Sarasota County.
- Offices of the Sarasota County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller.
- Offices of the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections.
Open/operating on Friday, July 3
- All Breeze services (routes, OnDemand, Plus) will operate on their regular schedules.
- Drop-off and disposal at the Central County Landfill and the Citizens’ Convenience Center will operate during regular hours.
- Knight Trail Park Pistol and Rifle Range in Nokomis.
- Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources’ trails, unstaffed nature preserves, parks and beaches.
Closed Saturday, July 4
- All library branches and offices.
- Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources’ recreation centers.
- Englewood Sports Complex.
- Knight Trail Park Pistol and Rifle Range.
- Breeze bus routes, Breeze Plus, ticket outlets and the Breeze administrative office.
- Bee Ridge Chemical Collection Center, administrative office and The Re-Uz-It Shop.
- Venice Chemical Collection Center and administrative office.
- Drop-off and disposal at the Central County Landfill and the Citizens’ Convenience Center.
Open/operating July 4
- Breeze OnDemand, 77 Siesta Islander, and 78 Bay Runner will operate during their regular hours.
- Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources’ trails, unstaffed nature preserves, parks and beaches.
Closed Thursday, July 2, through Monday, July 6
- Offices of the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County and the offices of the Sarasota County Property Appraiser and the Sarasota County Tax Collector. Operations will resume on Tuesday, July 7.
