A new customer service office will be opening in North Port, Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner announced this week.

The facility will be located at 14277 S. Tamiami Trail in the North Port Village shopping center, a news release notes. It will replace the elections office’s current location in Biscayne Plaza in North Port, the release adds.

“Beginning this Friday [Sept.18], the new location at the North Port Village shopping center will serve as the official elections office in North Port,” Turner said in the release. It will be “the location voters may visit if they need to conduct election tasks in person,” Turner added.

“I am excited for this new chapter for our North Port voters,” Turner continued in the release. As North Port is “one of the fastest growing areas in the United States,” he pointed out, “it’s important that our office stay ahead of that growth and continue to offer voters the highest level of service. I believe this new location will help us do that.”

Turner also is reminding all voters that the North Port move will affect in-person early voting for the Nov. 3 General Election.

“Starting Oct. 19,” he said, “the new location will be a new early voting site, offering significantly more space to accommodate the large number of early voters we are anticipating for this and future elections.”

The release points out, “The new location is conveniently located off Tamiami Trail, has abundant parking, and with a footprint of 5,400 square feet, has more than double the space of the Biscayne Plaza location.”

The Biscayne Plaza location will continue to serve voters through Oct. 2, the release says.
