Free event planned from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at county’s Chemical Collection Center on Bee Ridge Road
Sarasota County staff will celebrate America Recycles Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, with a free event during which residents and visitors may learn about recycling and other sustainable practices, the county has announced.
Sarasota County Solid Waste Division staff will host a variety of games and activities and provide information and demonstrations about single-stream recycling, a news release says. Additionally, representatives of local businesses “will share information about their recycled, reused and environmentally friendly products,” the release adds. Waste collection trucks also will be available for viewing.
“As part of the Keep America Beautiful initiative, America Recycles Day is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States,” said Wendi Crisp, program manager for Keep Sarasota County Beautiful, in the release. “We’re looking forward to another educational and family-fun event.”
The celebration will be held at the Sarasota County Chemical Collection Center, located at 8750 Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota.
Multiple food trucks will be on-site, the release notes, and 107.9 WSRZ will be broadcasting live.
