Each contains about 5,100 square feet
The Haven, a nonprofit organization in Sarasota, announced this week that construction has been completed on two new homes on its 32-acre campus.
Both Brad’s Place and Michael’s House encompass approximately 5,100 square feet, with eight private bedrooms, a news release says. They “will provide 24/7 staff support for adults with developmental disabilities,” the release adds.
The homes are situated “in a prime location,” the release continues: Residents will be within walking distance of the Mall at University Town Center, Nathan Benderson Park and its rowing facilities, the Mote Marine Science Education Aquarium — which remains under construction, “and countless restaurants and entertainment choices,” the release notes.
“Thanks to the support of our community, The Haven has become one of the largest residential service providers on the Suncoast,” The Haven President and CEO Brad Jones said in the release. “With several hundred individuals on our residential waiting list, there is still a lot of work to do.”
“The Haven exists to enhance the quality of life by encouraging independence, championing inclusion and advocating for individual rights,” the release explains. “The Haven offers programs and services for individuals with disabilities,” the release adds: Selby Preschool, Haven Academy (grades 9-12), adult day training and Haven Industries, community employment, and residential services. “Together, we can create a world where people with disabilities are included and valued members of society,” the release continues.
The Haven campus stands at 4405 Desoto Road in Sarasota.
