The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County — DOH Sarasota — is scheduled to host a by-appointment, COVID-19 drive-through testing opportunity at the Englewood Sports Complex on Wednesday, June 17, the department has announced.

This event has been planned for anyone who is experiencing symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell) or who works in a health care setting, a news release says.

To date, DOH Sarasota has tested more than 1,800 community members for COVID-19 during such events, the release points out.

To be evaluated and to make an appointment, members of the public are asked to call 941-861-2883, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Callers will be screened using current U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) testing criteria, the release adds. Appointments are limited; however, more testing opportunities may be scheduled in the future, the release says.

Additionally, while the Englewood site will be primarily for drive-through purposes, the release notes, “DOH Sarasota can accommodate walk-ups, and people on bicycles.”

The event on June 17 will be held from 8 a.m. to noon, the release adds. The Englewood Sports Complex is located at 1300 S. River Road in Englewood.
