City and County of Sarasota facilities to be closed for July 4, with no trash, yard waste or recycling collections scheduled for the holiday

City and County of Sarasota administrative offices will be closed Monday, July 4, in observance of the July Fourth holiday, the local governments have announced.

No residential garbage, recycling or yard waste pickup will be provided for either city or county customers on July 4, news releases emphasize.

In the city, the services will be delayed by one day early next week: The Monday collection will occur on Tuesday, and the Tuesday collection will occur on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday collections will not be interrupted, the release adds.

In the county, all trash, recycling and yard waste collection services will be delayed by one day next week, as follows:

  • Tuesday, July 5 — collection for Monday customers.
  • Wednesday, July 6 — collection for Tuesday customers.
  • Thursday, July 7 — collection for Wednesday customers.
  • Friday, July 8 — collection for Thursday customers.
  • Saturday, July 9 — collection for Friday customers.

Hours of operation at City of Sarasota recreational and cultural arts facilities for July 4 will be as follows:

The city is co-sponsoring the 37th annual P1 Offshore Sarasota Grand Prix scheduled for July 1-3 along Lido Beach, as well as the Bayfront Fireworks Spectacular at 9 p.m. on July 4, the release points out

Along with the administrative offices, the county facilities that will be closed, and services that will not be provided, on July 4 are as follows:

  • Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources’ facilities.
  • The Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) administrative office and downtown Sarasota transfer station customer service window.
  • SCAT bus and SCAT Plus services.
  • Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources facilities.
  • The Florida Department of Health — Sarasota County.
  • Sarasota County’s Chemical Collection Centers, located at 8750 Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota and at 250 S. Jackson Road in Venice.
  • The administrative offices at the Central County Landfill, located at 4000 Knights Trail Road, and the Chemical Collection Center, which stands at 8750 Bee Ridge Road.
  • The Re-Uz-It Shop at 8750 Bee Ridge Road.
  • The Central County Landfill and the Citizens’ Convenience Center, located at 4010 Knights Trail Road in Nokomis,

SCAT’s OnDemand services and the Siesta Key Breeze trolley will operate on their normal schedules, the county release notes.
