Library Foundation for Sarasota County recognizes winners of Rock the Shelf Award

Nonprofit honors recipients with professional development grants

The Library Foundation for Sarasota County has joined the Sarasota County Public Libraries and Historical Resources Department in congratulating the libraries’ annual Rock the Shelf Award winners, the Foundation has announced.

Diego Hernandez-Calabria, recognized for his work on SRQCon, a community-wide, pop-culture convention held in April, was named Employee of the Year. The Tech Navigator Team, recognized for developing an innovative, user-friendly approach to one-on-one tutoring with technology, was recognized as Team of the Year, the release points out.

The Library Foundation has honored the award winners with professional development grants that support continuing education opportunities of their choosing, the release notes.

“The Library Foundation is delighted to join [county staff members] in recognizing the outstanding achievements of their talented staff and appreciates the opportunity to support their efforts,” said Alisa Mitchell, executive director of the Library Foundation for Sarasota County, in the release.

Since its founding in 2011, the nonprofit Foundation has raised more than $8 million in private funds for the benefit of Sarasota County’s public libraries, the release explains. To learn more about the Library Foundation for Sarasota County and how individuals can support its mission, visit SarasotaLibraryFoundation.org or call 941-404-3139.
