Three performances planned in South County, ending in early October
“Take a break from the heat and enjoy the cool rhythm and blues and classic rock” of Bandana at the Venice Community Center on Saturday, July 23, Sarasota County has announced.
The band’s performance will kick off the popular Sizzlin’ Summer Concert Series presented by the Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department, a news release says.
Each member of Bandana “has many years of musical experience, singing both lead and backup vocals, translating into tight arrangements with crowd pleasing, melodic harmonies,” the release adds.
“We’re excited to invite the community to enjoy this popular band at our beautiful facility,” Dorian Hardy, Venice Community Center’s program coordinator, said in the release. “You’re sure to have a fun, rockin’ time!”
The concert will start at 7 p.m., and a cash bar and food concessions will be available, the release notes. The Venice Community Center is located at 326 S. Nokomis Ave. in Venice. The next band that will perform during the series will be One Night Rodeo, winner of the nationally televised Next Great American Country Star competition. Its show will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, at the Nokomis Community Park Pavilion, located at 234 E. Nippino Trail in Nokomis, the release continues.
The series will conclude with the blues stylings of Steve Arvey. He will perform from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Woodmere Park Amphitheater, located at 3951 Woodmere Park Blvd. in Venice, the release adds.
Blankets, lawn chairs and beverages will be welcome at the outdoor concerts, but glass is prohibited, the release points out.
