Voters still have time to request vote-by-mail ballots for Longboat Key and Holiday Park elections

Time remains to request a vote-by-mail ballot for the March 12 elections in Longboat Key and Holiday Park,

Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner is reminding voters.

To request a vote-by-mail ballot, a voter may call the elections office at 861-8618, or a person may go to to submit an online request for a ballot and to track his or her vote-by-mail ballot from the time the request is processed until the voted ballot has been received by the elections office, a news release explains.

Additionally, Turner urges voters to read and follow the instructions included with vote-by-mail ballots to ensure their ballots are counted. A voter should complete and sign the certificate on the ballot return envelope, the release stresses, and “the voter’s signature should match the signature on record.”

Voters also are reminded to mark and return their ballots promptly to avoid postal delays, the release points out. To be counted, voted ballots must reach the elections office no later than 7 p.m. on election night, the release says.

A Forever stamp or 55 cents in postage is required to return a vote-by-mail ballot by mail.
