As crews complete the first pass through residential neighborhoods, collecting storm debris from Hurricane Irma, commercial property owners are being reminded that storm debris collection is the responsibility of the commercial property owner, the City of Sarasota has announced.

“Commercial property owners are advised to consult their property insurance coverage regarding storm debris removal or contact the FEMA Small Business Program for assistance,” a news release says.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency will reimburse the City of Sarasota only for costs associated with residential storm debris collection, the release points out.

For information about residential storm debris collection, the release adds, the public may contact the Hurricane Irma Storm Debris Removal Hotline at 855-428-4526.
