Anyone who has had dreams of being a published author may enjoy a preview of how to do that, thanks to Inside the Publishing Industry, a free program that will be held at the North Port Public Library from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 19, Sarasota County has announced.

This one-hour overview of the publishing process is for people who have written a book or who are thinking of doing so, a news release explains. “Find out the differences between working with an agent versus an editor and what happens after a book deal is made,” the release says.

Presenter Sara Wolski Hopkins is a literary agent who worked in New York, Chicago and London; she recently made St. Petersburg her base of operations, the release notes. The presentation will include audience discussion and a 30-minute question-and-answer session. Wolski aims to get participants started on the road to publication, whether through traditional methods or other means, such as self-publishing and/or online publishing, the release adds.

The North Port Public Library is located at 13800 Tamiami Trail in North Port.
