Kids’ Summer Beach Runs to begin again on June 8

Events to be held on Tuesdays on Siesta Beach; on Wednesdays, at North Brohard Park in Venice

The popular Kids’ Summer Beach Runs will begin again on June 8, Sarasota County staff has announced.

The free 1-mile fun runs are presented by Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources (PRNR), Sarasota Crew and New Balance of Sarasota, a news release says.

Kids’ Summer Beach Runs are held Tuesdays and Wednesdays, in June and July. Registration opens at 5:30 p.m., and races kick off at 6:30 p.m., the news release adds.

At Siesta Public Beach, the runs will be conducted on Tuesdays, from June 8 through July 27, the release notes. Participants are asked to meet near the playground.

On Wednesdays, from June 9 through July 28, the runs will be held at North Brohard Park in Venice, which is located at 1400 S. Harbor Drive. Those participants are asked to gather near the Venice Fishing Pier.

“Registration is required on-site,” the release points out.

Each fun run participant will receive a ribbon for finishing a race, the release adds. After a youngster has completed four runs, he or she will earn a T-shirt and a discount coupon for New Balance shoes, the release points out.

Other sponsors of Kids’ Summer Beach Run are Manasota Track Club, Sharky’s on the Pier, Janoff and Khatri Pediatric Dentistry, the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County, and Siesta Key Kiwanis.
