Website recognizes Pine View as the top public elementary school in the nation
In the 2018 list on the school-ranking website niche.com, Pine View School has been recognized as the top public elementary school in the U.S. out of 49,776 schools, and it is the sixth-ranked public middle school out of 23,000 schools in the nation, the Sarasota County School District has announced.
Pine View serves 1,970 intellectually gifted students in grades two through 12, a school district news release says.
In Florida, the website ranks schools in the following categories: college prep public high school, public elementary school, public high school and public middle school, the release explains. With rankings also provided within categories, the release notes, Pine View was ranked third in the state among public high schools for STEM classes (science, technology, engineering and math). Additionally, the school was ranked sixth among public high schools in Florida for the quality of its teachers.
“This is an amazing achievement, and I am so proud of our hard-working teachers and students,” said Principal Stephen Covert in the release. “Every day they are continuing Pine View’s tradition of excellence.”
“Niche.com analyzes data and reviews to produce comprehensive rankings, report cards and profiles for schools throughout the U.S. and state by state,” the release points out. The methodology includes an analysis of key statistics, reviews from students and parents, and data from the U.S. Department of Education, the release explains. “The approach takes into account school diversity, class size, and interest among the high schools’ alumni in higher education,” the release adds.
Pine View School is located at 1 Python Path in Osprey.
