Street closures announced for Nov. 11 Veterans Day Parade in downtown Sarasota

Vehicles not moved by the posted time will be towed, Police Department points out

The City of Sarasota and the Sarasota Patriotic Observance Committee will co-host the annual Veterans Day Parade at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, in downtown Sarasota, the Sarasota Police Department announced this week.

As a result, several road closures and vehicle tow-away zones will be in effect for the parade, beginning at 8 a.m. on Nov. 11, a news release notes.
The street closures will be as follows:

  • 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — Main Street will be closed from U.S. 301 to Mira Mar Court.
  • 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — Main Street will be closed from Mira Mar Court to U.S. 41.
  • 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — Osprey Avenue will be closed from Fruitville Road to Ringling Boulevard.
  • 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — Pineapple Avenue will be closed from State Street to First Street.
  • 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — Links Avenue will be closed from Fruitville Road to Ringling Boulevard.
  • 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — First Street will be closed from Pineapple Avenue to Central Avenue.
  • 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — Central Avenue will be closed from Main Street to First Street.

“Vehicles not removed by the posted time will be towed at the owner’s expense,” the release emphasizes. For information on towed vehicles, the public may contact Upman’s Towing at 365-7084, the release adds.
