Updates also to be offered on various community development proposals
During the April 8 meeting of the Sarasota County Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA), the chief transportation planner for the City of Sarasota will provide a preview of the development of the city’s master transportation plan, CONA has announced.
Colleen McGuewill talk about the process getting underway this spring, which will entail not just a focus on traffic, but also a look “at how to move people around the city safely and comfortably on foot, on bicycles, on improved transit service, and in new ways such as automated and connected vehicles, water taxi, and more,” a news release explains.
McGue will give attendees an insight into the process for the development of the plan and help them determine what their role will be in that process, the release adds.
Following a traditional half-hour networking opportunity beforehand, the CONA meeting will open with brief neighborhood updates, the release says. Chris Bales will discuss Arbor Lake Preserve; Bob Bernstein, the Selby Gardens Master Plan; Ben Cannon, plans for expanding the Bath and Racquet Club; Sura Kochman, the status of a lawsuit filed to try to stop the construction of Siesta Promenade; and Tom Matrullo, the Celery Fields and the Fresh Start Initiative.
The networking session will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7 p.m. The meetings are held at the Sarasota Garden Club, which is located at 1131 Boulevard of the Arts in Sarasota. The club building is at the intersection of North Tamiami Trail, just south of the Municipal Auditorium; the parking lot and entrance may be reached from Van Wezel Way.
