On April 27, officers with the Sarasota Police Department Street Crimes Unit collected 38 pounds of unused, expired and unwanted prescription drugs during the National Drug Take-Back Initiative in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the department announced.
Members of the DEA will dispose of the drugs properly, a press release points out.

The Sarasota Police Department also has a permanent drop-box in its lobby at Sarasota Police Headquarters, located at 2099 Adams Lane in downtown Sarasota, the release notes. That box may be accessed from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, for people to drop off unused, expired and unwanted prescriptions drugs, the release adds.
