The Boat Parade of Lights in Sarasota has been set for 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, Sarasota City Manager Tom Barwin reported in his Dec. 6 newsletter.

Barwin called the parade “[o]ne of the most anticipated events of the season!” From dinghies to yachts, the vessels are decorated “with their best and brightest holiday décor,” he added.

As they cruise Sarasota Bay, he continued, the entries will be helping raise funds for the nonprofit organization Suncoast Charities for Children.

The best viewing locations for landlubbers, Barwin pointed out, are City Island, Centennial Park, Bayfront Park and Marina Jack.
