Anyone in Sarasota County with a suspended driver’s license will have an opportunity to save 25% in collection agency fees by paying in full overdue court obligations, including traffic tickets, during Operation Green Light, the Sarasota County Clerk and Comptroller’s Office has announced.

The program is a statewide driver’s license reinstatement initiative, a news release points out. “Florida Law requires the Clerk’s office to turn over unpaid tickets and other outstanding court fines and fees to an outside collection agency if the debt is not paid within 90 days of the due date,” the Clerk’s Office explains on a webpage.

The Clerk’s Office will offer special, in-person evening and weekend hours for Operation Green Light, the release notes. Customers not only will be able to make pay overdue payments, but they also will be able to establish payment plans, the release adds.

Staff will be available at the R.L. Anderson Administration Center, located at 4000 S. Tamiami Trail in Venice, from 5 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 19 and Nov. 20, the release notes. In Sarasota, staff will assist customers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Historic Courthouse, which is located at 2000 Main St.

Customers should be prepared to follow CDC guidelines related to social distancing when participating in Operation Green Light, the release points out.
