Starting Monday, Dec. 7, the City of Sarasota Parks & Recreation District’s Payne Park Tennis Center will extend its evening hours Monday through Thursday, the city has announced.

“In response to tennis patrons’ requests,” a news release says, the Tennis Center will be open for an extra 30 minutes on those evenings. The closing time has been 7:30 p.m., the release points out. The new closing time will be 8 p.m., “which gives players time to finish that end-of-day match,” the release adds.

The Friday hours will remain the same, the release notes: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Advanced reservations are required for games at the Tennis Center, the release reminds the public. Reservations may be made online or by phone at 941-263-6640. Drop-ins are prohibited, the release emphasizes.

Showers, lockers, and the Court 13 open area are unavailable as the novel coronavirus pandemic continues, the release adds.

Face coverings are required for persons entering and leaving the facility, the release points out.

The Payne Park Tennis Center is located at 2050 Adams Lane in downtown Sarasota.
