The entryway of the North Port Library will undergo upgrades and enhancements, necessitating the facility’s closure from Monday, May 6, through Saturday, May 11, county staff has announced.

“During this temporary closure, access to the exterior book return will be unavailable,” a news release points out. “Patrons are asked to return borrowed materials to an alternative location” or extend their due dates by calling 941-861-1110 during normal operating hours.

The North Port Library is located at 13800 S. Tamiami Trail in North Port. “Library patrons are encouraged to visit neighboring libraries for full library services,” the release adds:

  • Frances T. Bourne Jacaranda Library, located at 4143 Woodmere Park Blvd. in Venice.
  • Shannon Staub Library, standing at 4675 Career Lane in North Port, on the campus of Suncoast Technical College.

“We do our best to prevent our libraries from closing during repairs, but in this case, it could not be prevented,” said Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources Director Dr. Renée Di Pilato in the release. “The safety of our patrons and staff has been, and always will be, our top priority,” she added.

“The North Port Library is closed on Sundays but will resume normal operations Monday, May 13,” the release notes.
