Program provides ‘exceptional training’

On April 11, Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Sgt. Leon Traska graduated from the Florida Leadership Academy, which is hosted by the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute, Sarasota County Sheriff Kurt A. Hoffman has announced.
Traska was part of Class 59 of the Academy, a news release notes.
He and other first-line supervisors attended four, week-long sessions, during which “the Florida Leadership Academy prepared them for future challenges and taught them the skills necessary to support the needs of their local agencies and communities,” the release points out. “Developing the character and integrity required for criminal justice professionals is the focus of this exceptional training and is built around the qualities of efficient and effective leaders,” the release continues. “Criminal justice agencies from all over the state were represented in this class,” the release adds.
“Preparing supervisors to serve and lead in their communities is the goal of the Florida Leadership Academy,“ Sheriff Hoffman pointed out in the release. “We prioritize all types of training at [the Sheriff’s Office]. It is the foundation that we build on.”
