Members of the public are invited to register for the Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Departments’ summer pickleball league.

The indoor, mixed doubles competition will take place at the Englewood Sports Complex gymnasium every Monday from June 16 through Aug. 8, a county news release says. The complex is located at 1300 S. River Road.

The league is limited to 16 teams, and the registration deadline is June 1, the release points out.

“This fun, ‘call-your-own’ league uses USAPA rules” and is open to players 18 and older, the release notes. The cost is $30 per player; it includes a T-shirt uniform. Each participant must register with a partner, the release also says.

Games will be played on Mondays between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., with practice times every Friday, the release adds. League play will end with a tournament offering awards to first- and second-place finishers.

“This is a great opportunity for players to compete indoors and gain doubles experience in an organized setting,” the release points out.
