Remake Learning Days planned April 21-29 in Sarasota County libraries

Free events for children and youth ‘designed to be hands-on, relevant and engaging’

Remake Learning Days are planned from April 21 through April 29 in Sarasota County libraries, with events for the whole family, county staff has announced.

“With more than 30 hands-on learning opportunities at multiple library locations, this weeklong festival invites you to meet authors and musicians, explore space, discover coding, try out veterinarian science, play bingo, relax with yoga, adventure on a scavenger hunt, get loud, and so much more!” a news release points out.

The following details have been provided about upcoming events:

  • Mister G! — “Dance, laugh and sing with Mister G, Grammy Award-winning multi-lingual musician and children’s author”; 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., Frances T. Bourne Jacaranda Library in Venice, or 2 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, at the Shannon Staub Library in North Port. Learn more.
  • Star Party!— “Soar through space and explore an inflatable planetarium or creative glow-in-the-dark crafts”; 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 25, at Selby Library in downtown Sarasota. Learn more.
  • Loud at the Library!Enjoy live music, food trucks, raffle baskets and giveaways” from 3:30 to 6 p.m., Thursday, April 27, at the Betty J. Johnson North Sarasota Library in Newtown. Learn more.

“As part of a national program, Suncoast Remake Learning Days celebrate innovative experiences and opportunities for youth to develop their sense of creativity, perseverance and curiosity,” the release explains. These free events “are designed to be hands-on, relevant and engaging” for youth from pre-K through high school, along with their families, caregivers and educators, the release adds.
