A small section of Ashton Road has been closed as work continues on the roundabout project at the intersection of Honore Avenue and Ashton Road, Sarasota County staff has announced.

The closure, which is expected to run through Aug. 9, extends to both the east and west of Honore Avenue, a news release points out. “Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians are urged to use caution during the closure,” the release adds. Detour signs have been posted, the release notes.

Honore Avenue will remain open during the duration of the closure.

Begun in February, the roundabout will replace the four-way stop at the intersection, the release explains. The project is expected to be completed early next year; its cost is approximately $2.3 million.
