Both Oct. 22 workshops will cover same material, city staff says
The public will have another opportunity to offer comments on the future of transportation in the city of Sarasota when city staff hosts two community workshops next week, the city has announced.
City staff is in the second phase of Sarasota in Motion, the first citywide transportation master plan, a news release explains. “Sarasota in Motion will serve as a playbook for how the City not only invests in transportation infrastructure, but also how it achieves the community’s long-term quality of life goals,” the release points out.
“Anyone who lives, works or plays in Sarasota is invited to attend one of the two upcoming workshops” and share thoughts on what she or he would change about the city’s transportation network, how city streets can be made safer and how travel options can be expanded, the release adds.
Both workshops will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 22, with two options offered that day:
- Workshop No. 1 — 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Selby Public Library auditorium, located at 1331 First St.
- Workshop No. 2 — 4 to 5:15 p.m. at Selby Goodwill Manasota-Newtown, located at 1781 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
Both meetings will cover the same material, the release points out, so those interested in attending may choose whichever option they prefer.
In addition to the workshops, an interactive online feedback map is available at SarasotaInMotion.com. A person can zoom in on specific streets, intersections and routes on the interactive map and post comments and ideas, the release notes.
