Early voting dates, times and locations announced for Nov. 8 General Election

Supervisor of Elections Turner urging citizens to consider early-voting option because of expectation of high turnout and long ballot

Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner has designated nine early voting locations, including the three elections offices — in Sarasota, Venice and North Port — for the Nov. 8 General Election, his staff announced on Oct. 18.

Any registered voter may choose to vote early in person — from Monday, Oct. 24, through Sunday, Nov. 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily — at any one of the following locations, a news release says:

  • The Terrace Building, which stands at 2001 Adams Lane in downtown Sarasota.
  • R.L. Anderson Admin Building, located at 4000 S. Tamiami Trail in Venice; Room 114.
  • Biscayne Plaza, which stands at 13640 Tamiami Trail in North Port.
  • Betty J. Johnson North Sarasota Public Library, located at 2801 Newtown Blvd. in Sarasota.
  • Fruitville Public Library, located at 100 Apex Road in Sarasota.
  • The Devyn Event Center, located at 7113 S. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota.
  • Bee Ridge Park, standing at 4430 S. Lockwood Ridge Road in Sarasota.
  • William H. Jervey Jr. Venice Public Library, located at 300 Nokomis Ave S. in Venice.
  • Shannon Staub Public Library/Suncoast Technical College, standing at 4675 Career Lane in North Port

“Please note the Shannon Staub Public Library early voting location in North Port has moved to the adjoining Suncoast Technical College to accommodate ongoing disaster recovery operations at the library,” the release points out.

Turner encourages citizens who plan to vote in person during this election to consider voting early, the release continues. “With expected high turnout for the Nov. 8 General Election and an unusually long ballot, I strongly urge voters to take advantage of the 14 days of early voting, which will go a long way toward helping reduce lines and wait times at polling places on Election Day,” Turner said in the release.

Voters who choose to vote early must present photo and signature identification upon check-in at the early voting site and prior to voting, the release points out.
