Street closures announced in preparation for Downtown Sarasota Holiday Parade on Dec. 1

Police Department warning motorists about towing violations

The annual Downtown Sarasota Holiday Parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m., the Sarasota Police Department has announced.

The parade will begin at the intersection of Main Street and U.S. 301 in downtown Sarasota, a news release says, and it will end at J.D. Hamel Park, located at the intersection of Main Street and Gulfstream Avenue.

Several vehicle tow-away zones and street closures will be in effect, as follows, the release points out:

  • 9 a.m. Saturday to 12:30 a.m. Sunday: Main Street will be closed from U.S. 301 to U.S. 41.
  • 11 a.m. Saturday to 12:30 a.m. Sunday: Main Street will be closed from Orange Avenue to U.S. 41.
  • Noon Saturday to 12:30 a.m. Sunday: Audubon Place will be closed from Main Street to Fruitville Road.
  • Noon Saturday 
to 12:30 a.m. Sunday: Fletcher Avenue will be closed from Main Street to Fruitville Road.
  • Noon Saturday to12:30 a.m. Sunday: Wallace Avenue will be closed from Main Street to Fruitville Road.
  • Noon Saturday to
12:30 a.m. Sunday: East Avenue will be closed from Fruitville Road to Ringling Boulevard.
  • Noon Saturday to 12:30 a.m. Sunday: School Avenue will be closed from Main Street to Fruitville Road.
  • 
2:30 p.m. Saturday to 12:30 a.m. Sunday: Lemon Avenue will be closed from First Street to Main Street.
  • 
3 p.m. Saturday to 12:30 a.m. Sunday: Gulfstream Avenue will be closed from U.S. 41 to McAnsh Square.

Each road segment will reopen after the end of the parade moves two blocks away from the point of closure, the release adds.
