St. Boniface Episcopal Church on Siesta Key will hold its third annual Young Artist Showcase Auditions on April 4, the church has announced.

Applications are available to local high school and pre-degree college students from the Sarasota-Bradenton area, a news release explains. Multiple scholarship awards will be offered, with a maximum of $1,000 to be used toward continued music education, the release notes.

The Young Artist Showcase program began in 2017 to provide performance opportunities to local, aspiring young musicians, the release says. “The Sarasota-Bradenton area is rich with opportunities for students to pursue arts education, but programs and lessons can be expensive,” the release adds. The members of the St. Boniface Friends of Music organization “felt that there were not enough scholarship and performing opportunities for young musicians with a desire to pursue music as a profession and made a commitment to form a program that would benefit these students,” the release points out.

Flash forward to the present, the release continues, and the St. Boniface Young Artist Program “is thriving in 2020.”

The number of applications submitted reached “an all-time high in 2019,” the release notes. “With a passionate team dedicated to extending the reach of this program,” the release says, a record number of applicants is possible this year.

The only requirements for auditioning are that the student be studying music, that the student attend the auditions, and that the student has “a strong passion” for performing and sharing his or her art, the release points out.

The church is located at 5615 Midnight Pass Road.
